Hey there! Did you know that countries around the world use the internet to communicate and share information? But sometimes, they also have disagreements about keeping it safe.

Recently, China spoke out to the United States about cyberattacks. A spokesperson from China’s Ministry of National Defense, Mr. Zhang Xiaogang, said that the U.S. has been accusing China of being a cyber threat. But China thinks that’s not fair!

Mr. Zhang pointed out that the United States has been involved in many cyber activities. He mentioned events like WikiLeaks and the actions of Edward Snowden, who revealed information about U.S. surveillance programs.

China believes that everyone should work together to keep the internet safe and secure. They asked the U.S. to stop any cyberattacks against other countries, including China.

“Smearing China cannot help remove the U.S. label as the empire of hacking,” said Mr. Zhang. What’s an “empire of hacking”? It’s like saying someone is the biggest hacker around!

So, China is saying, let’s all be fair and responsible online. Just like how we should be kind and respectful to each other in real life, we should do the same on the internet.

What do you think? How can countries work together to make the internet a better place for everyone?
