Race to the Finish! Salby Sprints to Victory, Tsarenko Wins Tour of Hainan 🏆🚴
The Tour of Hainan, a big cycling race in south China’s Hainan Province, had an exciting end on Friday! Cyclists from all over the world raced through beautiful places, and the competition was really close.
Stage 5: The Final Challenge
The fifth and final stage of the race started in a city called Dongfang. The riders pedaled hard for 182.8 kilometers, passing through Ledong and ending in the sunny city of Sanya.
Salby’s Spectacular Sprint 🚴♂️💨
Alexander Salby, from the Li-Ning Star team, zoomed ahead in the last moments! He won the stage with a time of 4 hours, 18 minutes, and 3 seconds. After the race, Salby shared that he had promised his girlfriend he would win this stage. Talk about keeping a promise! 💕
Tsarenko’s Triumphant Title 🥇
Kyrylo Tsarenko, wearing the yellow leader’s jersey from the Solution Tech Vini Fantini team, finished 28th in the stage. But guess what? His overall time was so good that he became the champion of the whole Tour! His total time was 19 hours, 28 minutes, and 45 seconds.
Tsarenko was thrilled and a bit surprised. He said, “It all feels a bit chaotic and exciting at the moment. I don’t even know how this happened. I came here to collect points and raise my rankings. I never thought I could win it. So, I really don’t know what to say. It’s a tough competition.”
Best Asian Rider 🌏
Vadim Pronskiy from the Terengganu Cycling Team won the blue jersey. That means he was the best Asian rider in the race! 🎉
