Time-honored Capital Cinema explores new 'cinema+' business model

Beijing’s Historic Capital Cinema Gets a Cool New Makeover!

Hey there, movie fans! ๐ŸŽฅ

Did you know that in Beijing, there’s a very old and famous cinema called Capital Cinema? It’s been around since 1937! That’s like your great-great-grandparents’ time! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

But guess what? Even though it’s old, it’s becoming super cool and modern! Let’s find out how.

A Bit of History ๐Ÿ“œ

Capital Cinema started out as the Xinxin Theater, built by a famous Peking Opera master named Ma Lianliang and his friends. In 1950, it got its new name “Capital Cinema” from the Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai.

Over the years, it’s made a lot of “firsts”:

  • ๐ŸŽž๏ธ First widescreen stereophonic cinema in China.
  • ๐ŸŽถ First optical stereophonic cinema in Beijing.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ First cinema in Beijing to make over 10 million yuan in box office sales!

It’s been a special place for people in Beijing for a very long time.

Mixing Old and New ๐ŸŽฌโœจ

Now, Capital Cinema has two locations. One is in Xidan and the other is in Tongzhou District.

  • The Xidan branch keeps the classic feel but adds premium services. Think comfy seats and great sound!
  • The Tongzhou branch is all about fun and new experiences! They’re trying to attract younger people (like you!) with cool ideas.

Cool New Stuff ๐Ÿ˜Ž

In 2018, the Xidan cinema got a fancy LED cinema screen. That’s like having a giant TV with super sharp images!

They also tried something called “film+dining”. Imagine watching a movie and eating delicious food at the same time! ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ”

Last year, they even showed live games of the Chinese Super League (that’s soccer!) in the cinema. How awesome is that?

A Cinema Adventure ๐Ÿš€

The new Tongzhou cinema just opened and it’s like a big playground!

  • ๐ŸŽฎ They have interactive gaming areas where you can play games.
  • ๐ŸŽญ A multifunctional performance hall with seats that can move! So if you’re watching a 4D movie, you’ll feel like you’re inside the action!

They want to make going to the movies an exciting adventure, not just sitting and watching.

Why It’s Cool ๐Ÿ‘

Capital Cinema is showing that even places that are nearly 100 years old can be super cool by trying new things. They mix history with fun new tech to make movie-going amazing for everyone!
