Building a Station in the Coldest Place on Earth

Keeping the Station Running Smoothly
The team installed important things like:
- 26 solar panels ☀️
- 10 wind turbines 💨
- A hydrogen power room and storage tank ⚗️
- A satellite ground station for communication 📡
- Water systems for clean drinking water and treating wastewater 🚰
They also set up a big network (about 1,700 meters long!) of pipes and cables to keep everything connected. 📶
Ready for the Winter Challenges
Now that the summer missions are complete, the station is all set for the tough Antarctic winter. The director of Qinling Station, Wang Zhechao, said, “These facilities are crucial for our winter operations. The successful testing and functioning of these systems ensure smooth work progress and lay the foundation for the station’s long-term operation.” 🌐
