China’s New Mommy Care: Where Moms Rest and Babies Get the Best! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Imagine a place where new moms can relax, eat yummy food, and get pampered, all while experts take care of their babies. Sounds cool, right? Well, in China, this is becoming a big thing!

Meet Ms. Cao. After having her second baby, she decided to stay at a special mommy care center. There, nurses and nannies helped with her newborn, so she could rest and recover. She enjoyed six delicious meals every day to boost her energy and milk. Plus, she joined reading clubs, did gentle exercises, and even got beauty treatments! ๐Ÿ˜

This special time after a baby is born is called “zuoyuezi” or “sitting the month” in China. It used to mean moms had to stay home for 30 to 60 days, which could be pretty strict. But now, it’s all about helping moms feel better in a scientific and caring way.

In the past, grandmas or mothers-in-law would help, but sometimes that caused stress or disagreements. Now, many new moms choose to go to these centers or hire a “yuesao” (that’s a special nanny) to come to their homes.

A big survey showed that most people (93.5%) think it’s important for moms to rest after giving birth. And 65.8% would choose professional care centers for this!

The mommy care industry in China is growing fast. It went from making 9.3 billion yuan in 2018 to 22.3 billion yuan in 2022! Experts think it could grow to over 100 billion yuan by 2030. ๐Ÿš€

But not everyone can afford these fancy centers. Ms. Li is a new mom who decided to hire a yuesao to help her at home. She felt more comfortable in her own house and said it was easier to bond with her baby there. Plus, it’s less expensive!

Staying at a care center can cost a lot, from 50,000 to 300,000 yuan. Some even cost up to 500,000 yuan! Hiring a yuesao is cheaper, costing between 10,000 and 30,000 yuan.

The demand for yuesao is so big that this market grew from 277.6 billion yuan in 2015 to over 1 trillion yuan in 2021! Even though fewer babies are being born, more people want professional help.

Experts say that there needs to be more rules to make sure these services are top quality. In March this year, new national standards were made to improve service quality. The government is also helping by offering things like childcare subsidies and more public childcare services.

Some places are even giving money to families! For example, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, families can get 10,000 yuan for their first child, and even more for the second and third.

With all these changes, it’s an exciting time for new moms and babies in China! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘ถ
