Hey there, eco-warriors! π Guess what? China and Africa are teaming up to make our planet greener and healthier! ππ
On Wednesday, a special event called the China-Africa Ecological Civilization Exchange Forum was held at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. It’s one of the oldest universities in Kenya! π«
People like senior officials, diplomats, environmentalists, and scholars came together to talk about how to protect the environment and work together. Isn’t that cool? π€
They also had a super awesome photo exhibition called “The City of Eagles” π¦ , showing off the beautiful city of Chongqing in southwest China. If you love amazing cityscapes and nature pics, this was the place to be! πΈ
But wait, there’s more! They launched a nature observation program ππ³ designed to bring Chinese and African youth together. That means kids and teens like you from both places will work together to help the environment! How exciting is that? π€©
Njoroge Muchiri, the deputy governor of Nairobi, said they’re excited to work with China to make their city greener by bringing back green spaces and cleaning up rivers. He visited China recently and saw how they’ve taken great care of the Yangtze River. π’ποΈ
“We are working on a big plan to clean up Nairobi rivers,” he said. “With help, we can bring back the ecosystems that used to be here.” π§πΏ
Nevile Agesa, who works at the Mara Conservation Fund πΎ, said that working with Chinese groups has helped protect habitats hurt by climate change, pollution, and the loss of biodiversity.
Hu Henghua, the mayor of Chongqing, spoke too! He said they’re ready to share ideas and work together on things like clean energy, wildlife protection, and more. πΌβ‘
The Chinese ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, emphasized that China cares a lot about the global environment. She mentioned that Chinese companies in Kenya are using green practices, like when they built the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway ππ, which is 480 kilometers long!
She also talked about the “Partnership Action for Green Development,” which shows China’s promise to help Africa with green energy and protecting nature.
Isn’t it amazing to see countries working together to make the world a better place? Maybe one day, you can be part of projects like this, too! π
