Spring Plowing Begins in Xizang! 🌱
Spring has sprung in Xizang, and that means it’s time to start planting! In the beautiful town of Gyantse in Shigatse, villagers are getting ready for a new farming season.
On March 16, 2025, villagers dressed in their brightest and most festive clothes came together to celebrate the start of spring plowing. They guided their strong yaks, animals that are really important in this region, to pull plows through the fields.
Can you imagine watching yaks and people working together to till the soil? It’s an amazing sight! The villagers planted highland barley seeds, which is a special kind of grain that grows well in the high mountains of Xizang.
This planting ceremony is more than just work; it’s a joyful event filled with hope. Everyone is excited about the journey towards a bountiful harvest later in the year.
