Girls in Science: China and the Netherlands Team Up! π
Hey there! Have you ever dreamed of becoming a scientist? π§ͺπ¬ Well, great news! More girls around the world are becoming scientists than ever before!
As of 2022, 41% of researchers worldwide are women. That’s a big jump from just 28% in 2001! π And guess what? China and the Netherlands are working together to help even more girls chase their science dreams.
A Special Event to Celebrate Women in Science π©βπ¬
On Friday, China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China held a special event. They celebrated 30 years since the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing back in 1995. The main goal? To encourage more girls to become scientists!
Why Is This Important? π€
Even though more women are becoming researchers, sometimes their hard work isn’t valued as much as it should be. This can make it harder for girls to succeed in science. Both China and the Netherlands want to change this!
Working Together for a Better Future π
At the event, scientists shared amazing projects they’re working on together. For example, they are studying how to help people with diabetes using special cells called adult pancreas stem cells. They’re also creating better batteries to help our environment. How cool is that? π
Tips for Future Scientists π‘
Experienced scientists gave advice to girls who want to pursue science. One professor, Li Hongnan, said, “Don’t tell her what she should do. Let her choose what she likes.” β€οΈ
You Can Be a Scientist Too! π₯Ό
Science is for everyone, and that includes YOU! Whether you’re interested in space, animals, computers, or the environment, there’s a place in science for you. So keep dreaming big! β¨
