While walking through the Old Town of Lijiang, with its stone-paved roads and traditional buildings, Xi Jinping admired the town’s unique culture, breathtaking scenery, and wonderful folk traditions. He emphasized how important it is to protect these treasures and to develop tourism in a way that is sustainable and healthy for the environment.
“Your town is truly captivating,” he told the local people. “Combining your culture with tourism has helped the economy grow, and it’s important to keep it thriving!”
But the adventure didn’t stop there! Xi Jinping also visited a modern flower industry park, where he met villagers and scientists who work with flowers every day. He was curious about the different types of flowers they grow, how they sell them, and how this work affects their lives.
The villagers shared that they earn over 4,000 yuan each month (that’s about $557!), and during busy seasons, they can make even more—over 7,000 yuan! They expressed how happy they are to be working with flowers, saying it’s a joyful job.
With a big smile, Xi Jinping said, “Your hard work is blooming, just like these flowers! You’re following the path of modern agriculture, and I hope your lives continue to be as beautiful as the flowers you grow.”
