China’s Health Heroes: Helping the World Stay Healthy! πβ€οΈ
Did you know that China is helping people around the world to stay healthy? Let’s explore how China’s doctors and nurses are making a big difference globally!
A Long Journey to Better Health
A long time ago, in 1949, people in China lived to about 35 years old on average. But now, they live to around 79 years old! That’s more than double! How did this happen? China worked really hard to fight diseases like smallpox, polio, and malaria, and now these diseases are gone from the Chinese mainland! π
Sharing is Caring
China doesn’t just keep these health successes for themselves. They share them with the world! Since 1963, China has sent over 30,000 medical workers to 76 countries and regions. Imagine that many doctors and nurses working to help people all over the globe! They have treated nearly 300 million patients and helped build over 130 hospitals and clinics.
Helping Hands in Africa
In places like Sudan and Malawi in Africa, Chinese medical teams have helped millions of people. They not only treat patients but also teach local doctors new skills. So even when the Chinese doctors go back home, the local doctors can continue to help their own communities better. Isn’t that awesome? π
Traditional Chinese Medicine Goes Global
Have you heard of acupuncture or herbal teas? These are parts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and they are becoming popular all over the world! Now, TCM is used in 196 countries and regions! More than one-third of the world’s people have tried TCM treatments. That’s a lot of people! π
China is working with the World Health Organization to make TCM a bigger part of global health care. They have set up high-quality TCM centers in many countries and are training over 1,300 foreign professionals in TCM over the next three years.
Building a Healthy Future Together
China believes in building a “global community of health for all.” This means they want everyone, everywhere, to have the chance to be healthy. By sharing doctors, medicines, and medical knowledge, China is helping to make the world a healthier place. And that’s something we can all smile about! πβ€οΈ
