China’s Forests Are Growing 🌳: Over 25% of the Country Now Covered in Trees!
Did you know that China has been planting millions of trees to make the environment better? 🌲 Since 1979, people all over China have been celebrating National Tree Planting Day on March 12. They plant trees to make their country greener and help the planet! 🌏

China’s forest coverage has now surpassed 25%! That means more than a quarter of the country is covered with forests. 🌳 That’s a lot of trees! They’ve planted over 4 million hectares of trees in recent years. To give you an idea, that’s like covering more than 6 million soccer fields with trees! ⚽🌳
The Great Green Wall 🌲🧱
One of China’s big projects is called the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program, also known as the “Great Green Wall.” It started in 1978 and is the world’s largest tree-planting project. Its goal is to stop the desert from spreading in places like northwest China. 🏜️➡️🌳
They’ve already planted millions of trees, creating a “green belt” over 3,000 kilometers long! That’s like the distance from London to Istanbul! 🌍
