In Myanmar, education is very important. The Constitution says that every citizen has the right to go to school. But in some poor and remote areas, it’s tough for kids to stay in school. Can you imagine walking miles to get to class or not having enough school supplies?
Meet Ma Lewen 👩👦👦
Ma is a single mom raising her two sons all by herself. Every day, she climbs up the mountains to gather bamboo shoots. These are plants that she can sell to make money. But it’s really hard work, and she doesn’t earn much. She does all of this to keep her boys in school because she believes education will help them have a better future.
A Helping Hand 🤝
In 2018, something special happened in Min Pyin Village. A project called the East Asia Poverty Reduction Cooperation Pilot Project started. This big name means it was a plan to help the village improve and grow!
The project began building new infrastructure. That’s like roads, buildings, and other important things that make a village better. Guess what? Ma got a job working at the construction site! Even though the work was tough, she earned more money than before.
Hope for the Future 🌈
With her new job, Ma feels hopeful. She can now support her family better and ensure her sons stay in school. She dreams that they will have more opportunities and maybe one day, help others too.
