Hey there! Guess what? Over 40 ancient Chinese treasures have just returned home to China from the United States! 🎉
On Tuesday, China’s National Cultural Heritage Administration received 41 cultural relics and artifacts that were illegally taken out of China. They got them back from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York.
These amazing items include pottery, jade pieces, bronze ware, and even Buddhist artifacts. One of the coolest items is a bronze “money tree” with a ceramic base. There’s also a pottery figurine of an entertainer!
Experts say these artifacts are super old! They date all the way back from the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). That’s thousands of years of history!
Back in 2009, China and the U.S. signed an important agreement to stop the illegal import of Chinese cultural relics into the U.S. They renewed it in 2014 and 2019. Since then, 594 lost cultural relics and artifacts have been returned to China in 20 batches. That’s a lot of history coming back home!
It’s so exciting to see these treasures returning to where they belong. They tell us so much about history and help us learn about the past! Maybe someday you’ll get to see them in a museum. 😊
