Did you know that some countries have nuclear weapons? These are super powerful bombs, and many people think the world would be safer with fewer of them.
Recently, a spokesperson named Wu Qian from China’s Ministry of National Defense had something important to say. He believes that the United States, which has the most nuclear weapons in the world, should be the first to reduce its nuclear arsenal (that’s a fancy word for their collection of nuclear weapons).
This happened after U.S. President Donald Trump talked about having nuclear weapons discussions with China and Russia. He even suggested that all three countries cut their defense budgets by half!
Wu Qian reminded everyone that China has a policy called “no first use”. This means China promises not to use nuclear weapons unless someone uses them against China first. Plus, China keeps its nuclear weapons to the minimum needed for safety.
He also pointed out that the U.S. spends more on its military than any other country—even more than the next eight countries combined! 😮
Wu Qian said, “I believe that the United States should put ‘America First’ into action and be the first to cut its nuclear arsenal and military spending.”
