Hey there! Have you heard the big news from China? ๐จ๐ณ They just unveiled the world’s largest methanol-powered dual fuel engine! ๐
This giant engine is as heavy as almost 2,000 elephants ๐ (it weighs nearly 1,953 tons)! It’s made by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation and has a maximum power output of 64,500 kilowatts. That’s like powering over half a million PlayStation 5 consoles at the same time! ๐ฎ
But what’s super cool is that it’s going to be installed on a gigantic container ship that can carry up to 16,000 containers. Imagine all the stuff you can fit in there! ๐ฆ
The engine uses methanol as fuel for 95% of its power. Methanol is a cleaner fuel that helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 7.5%. That means it’s better for our planet Earth! ๐
To give you an idea, Mr. Dong Jingjin, the project manager at China State Shipbuilding Corporation, said, “If the engine runs for 300 days a year, the carbon emissions we reduce are equal to the total emissions of 72,000 gasoline cars in a year!” ๐๐จ That’s like taking a whole city’s worth of cars off the road!
He also mentioned, “We plan to build more engines like this in the next two to three years, and hope to use them on different kinds of ships.” ๐ณ๏ธ
This is a big step forward in making sea transport greener and better for the environment. ๐ฑ
Isn’t that amazing? Maybe one day, all ships will use such cool technology to help protect our planet!
