China Aims for Cleaner Air: No More Heavy Pollution by 2025!
Hey kids! Did you know that China is working super hard to make the air cleaner? 🚀 They want to get rid of really bad air pollution by the year 2025. That’s just around the corner!
But what is air pollution? 🤔 It’s when the air gets dirty from things like smoke from factories or cars. This can make it hard to breathe and isn’t safe for people, animals, or plants.
Li Tianwei, an official in China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said they are making plans to clean up the air. They will try to control pollution and cut down on dirty emissions.
In 2024, China’s air got a lot better! The amount of tiny dust particles called PM2.5 (which can be bad for our lungs) went down by 2.7%. Also, they had more days with good air quality than before! 🌞
Li said, “The blue sky is not given; it is earned.” That means we have to work hard to keep our skies clear and blue! 💙
One big problem is that cars, trucks, and machines make a lot of pollution. They make about 60% of nitrogen oxides (which can make smog) and 24% of volatile organic compounds (which also make the air dirty).
To fix this, China plans to:
- Make stricter rules for emissions from cars and factories.
- Use more electric cars and buses, especially in places like airports and ports. 🚗⚡
- Move more goods by trains and boats instead of trucks, which are cleaner ways to travel. 🚂🚢
