Hey movie lovers! Guess what? The Shanghai International Film Festival (that’s SIFF for short) just held a super cool event in Berlin, Germany! ๐จ๐ณ๐ฉ๐ช
This is big news because it’s been 9 years since SIFF last visited Berlin. Talk about a comeback! ๐
Famous filmmakers from around the world came together to celebrate. They were excited about how awesome China’s film industry has become. Some of the special guests were:
- Jerzy Skolimowski, a famous filmmaker from Poland who was the head judge at SIFF’s Golden Goblet Awards in 2023. ๐
- Ichiyama Shozo, the programming director of the Tokyo International Film Festival and a judge at SIFF’s Asian New Talent section in 2010. ๐ฅ
- Marco Mรผller, a producer and scholar who was a judge for SIFF’s main competition in 2021. ๐ฌ
Did you know? Shanghai is like the heart of Chinese cinema! โค๏ธ It’s where Chinese movies all began over a hundred years ago. The city is buzzing with filmmakers and fans who love to share the magic of movies. โจ
Last year, SIFF got over 3,700 films from 105 countries and regions! ๐ That’s a lot of movies! And 76% of the Golden Goblet Award nominees were world premieres, which means they were shown for the very first time. How cool is that? ๐ฎ
Mark your calendars! ๐ The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from June 13 to 22, 2025. That year is extra special because it will be the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema. SIFF is planning awesome film screenings and exhibitions to celebrate! ๐
So, if you love movies, keep an eye out for SIFF’s exciting events. Maybe one day, you’ll be a filmmaker, too! ๐ฅโจ
