Chinese freestyle skier Li Fanghui just scored her first-ever World Cup gold medal in the women’s halfpipe event! 🎉 She dazzled everyone at the FIS Freeski World Cup in Calgary, Canada, with an amazing performance.
But that’s not all! Li and Britain’s Zoe Atkin both finished the season with the same number of points—305 to be exact. 📊 This is super special because it’s the first time in freeski World Cup history that two athletes have shared the Crystal Globe, which is like the overall season trophy! 🏆🏆
Li wowed the judges with a fantastic score of 90.50 points. Atkin wasn’t far behind with 87.75 points, and Canada’s own Rachael Karker grabbed bronze with 87.00 points. Way to go, everyone! 🙌
Li said, “I was really happy and excited. Last season, I didn’t perform very well, but I’ve been making progress all year, and I’m proud of myself.” She was so focused that she didn’t even realize she’d won the season title right away! 😮
This victory comes right after Li’s gold medal win at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. She flew straight to Canada after that to compete in the World Cup. Talk about dedication! ✈️🌟
