China Asks U.S. to Fix Mistake About Taiwan π
Hey there! Did you hear about China asking the United States to fix some information on a website?
So, here’s what happened:
The U.S. State Department has a website where they share facts about different places around the world. Recently, they changed what they said about Taiwan. They took out words that said they don’t support Taiwan becoming independent.
China didn’t like this change. A spokesperson from China’s Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, said that there’s only one China, and Taiwan is part of China. He mentioned that the United States had agreed to this idea in earlier agreements between the two countries.
Guo Jiakun urged the U.S. to correct the mistake, follow the one-China principle, and not support any ideas about Taiwan becoming independent.
He also said that making such changes could send the wrong message to people who want Taiwan to be separate from China, and it could harm the relationship between China and the U.S., as well as peace in the Taiwan Strait (the water between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland).
It’s important for countries to respect agreements and understand each other’s viewpoints to keep peace and friendship around the world! ππ€
