China wasn’t happy about this. A spokesperson from China’s Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, reminded Japan that Taiwan is an important part of China. He said that matters about Taiwan are China’s own business and asked Japan not to interfere.
China also reminded Japan about their shared history. In the past, Japan had control over Taiwan, and China urged Japan to be careful and respectful about this sensitive topic.
