Meet Hong Kong’s Adorable Panda Twins! ๐ผ๐ผ
Guess who just made their big debut? Ocean Park Hong Kong’s first-ever locally born giant panda twins! ๐ The cuddly cubs stepped into the spotlight, and everyone is invited to help name these cute siblings.
The Panda Family
Born last August, the twin cubs now live in the “Giant Panda Adventure” hall at the park. Their proud parents are Ying Ying and Le Le, giant pandas gifted by the central government to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Isn’t it amazing? ๐
A Special Ceremony
At a special ceremony, HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee thanked all the experts who took such great care of the panda family. He said, “Ying Ying, the mother of the twin cubs, is on record as the world’s oldest giant panda to give birth for the first time. The birth of the twin cubs not only shows how awesome our country’s efforts are in giant panda conservation but also highlights Ocean Park’s leading role as a conservation and education base in Hong Kong.”
Time to Name the Cubs!
Right now, people are calling the twins “Jiajie” and “Xilao,” which mean “elder sister” and “little brother” in Cantonese. But they need official names, and that’s where you come in! ๐ Hong Kong residents are encouraged to suggest names based on the cubs’ looks, personalities, and how they play together. The results will be announced soon, so get creative!
Growing Up Fast
In just six months, these tiny cubs have grown from about 120 grams at birth to over 12 kilograms! ๐ They’ve been growing strong and healthy, thanks to the loving care from their panda mom and the park’s caretakers.
Pandas in Hong Kong
Did you know there are now six giant pandas living in Hong Kong? Over the years, three pairs of giant pandas have been gifted to Hong Kong by the central government. All of them live at Ocean Park, where they’re well taken care of. ๐๏ธ

“Pandas are national treasures,” said Poman Lo, a businesswoman in the tourism industry. “They hold a special place in the hearts of Hong Kong residents. We’re so grateful to the country for giving these precious gifts to us. We’ll take good care of these two panda babies.”
