Hey there! Have you ever imagined skiing on snowy mountains? Well, that’s exactly what Fayik Abdi from Saudi Arabia is doing! ⛷️
Fayik is Saudi Arabia’s first-ever Winter Olympian, and he’s having an amazing time at the Asian Winter Games in Yabuli, which is in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. That’s a place known for its beautiful snow-covered slopes! ❄️
This isn’t Fayik’s first time in China. He also competed in the Winter Olympics in Beijing three years ago. At first, getting used to Yabuli was a bit tricky, but soon he found it super enjoyable. And guess what? He has his teammates with him, making it even more fun! 😄
Two more skiers from Saudi Arabia, Sharifa Al-Sudairi and Farhoud Joud, are also competing in the women’s slalom event. Plus, their country sent a whole team of male curlers to compete in Harbin, another city in China famous for ice and snow. How cool is that? 🥌
Fayik hopes that by skiing and competing, he can inspire more people in Saudi Arabia to try winter sports. Imagine more kids and teens hitting the slopes in a place known for deserts! 🏜️➡️🏔️
Even though Fayik didn’t finish the men’s slalom competitions this time, he’s not giving up. He’s determined to do his best to earn a spot at next year’s Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy. We’re cheering for you, Fayik! 🇸🇦🏅
