China's highways to see record EV charging during Spring Festival

China’s Highways Gearing Up for Record EV Charging During Spring Festival!

Hey there! Have you ever been on a long car trip with your family during a big holiday? 🚗 Well, in the Chinese mainland, something really exciting is happening with electric cars this year!

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is a time when millions of people travel to visit their families. This year, from January 28, even more people will be hitting the highways in their electric vehicles (that’s EVs for short!).

What’s super cool is that the amount of electricity used to charge these EVs on the highways is expected to reach a record high! Imagine enough electricity to power a small city! 💡

Each day during the holiday, drivers are expected to use over 7.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to charge their cars. That’s 52% more than last year! On the busiest day, more than 9 million kilowatt-hours might be used. That’s a huge amount!

To help all these drivers, China has been building lots of new charging stations along the highways. By the end of 2024, nearly all the highway rest stops have charging facilities – that’s 98% of them! There are 35,000 charging poles ready to keep those cars moving. ⚡

Did you know that there are now over 31 million new energy vehicles (that’s cars like electric and hybrid cars) on the roads in China? That’s 260 times more than ten years ago! That’s like going from one toy car to 260 toy cars! 🧮

This big increase is because people are becoming more eco-friendly, which means they care about helping the environment. Plus, there’s been lots of progress in making electric cars better and building places to charge them. 🌳

So, if you’re traveling during the holidays, maybe in the future you’ll be in an electric car too! The world is moving towards cleaner and greener ways to get around. Isn’t that electrifying news? ⚡😊
