UN Chief Shares Lunar New Year Wishes for the Year of the Rabbit

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has shared his warmest wishes to everyone celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.

In a special video message, Guterres began by saying, “Chunjie Kuaile!“โ€”that’s Chinese for “Happy Spring Festival.” He expressed his joy and hope for the coming year, which is the Year of the Rabbit.

“The rabbit symbolizes peace, prosperity, and hope,” the UN chief said. “As we hop into this new year, let’s embrace these qualities and work together for a better world.”

He also thanked China and the Chinese people for their support of the United Nations. “Your commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation is invaluable. Let’s continue to move forward with determination and unity,” he added.

Antonio Guterres concluded his message by saying, “May the Year of the Rabbit bring good health, happiness, and success to all.”
