A major cold front is sweeping across the country, bringing lots of snow, strong winds, and really cold temperatures. Brrr! 🥶
The temperature is dropping by as much as 14 degrees Celsius in some places! That’s like going from a warm autumn day to a freezing winter night overnight!
Travel Delays 🚗✈️🚂
Because of the heavy snow, many roads are closed or really hard to drive on. As of Friday, 79 roads were affected by snow and ice. That means some people can’t drive to where they need to go.
Airplanes and trains are also having trouble. In northeastern China, airports in Shenyang and Changchun might have flights delayed or canceled because of the snow. Even the airport in Kunming, in southwest China, might have delays on Monday.
In Xinjiang, strong winds have caused trains to stop running for a while. But don’t worry, people with tickets can get refunds or book a different train without paying extra. 🚂
More Snow on the Way! ❄️
The snow is expected to keep falling over the next few days. On Sunday and Monday, places like eastern Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, and Jilin are going to get lots of snow.
Even though the snow might stop in some places, it’s still super cold, so the snow that’s already on the ground won’t melt quickly. That means it’s great for building snowmen! ☃️
