Ancient inspirations shine in CMG's Year of the Snake mascot

Ancient Art Inspires New Year Snake Mascot!

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy Year of the Snake! All around the world, people are celebrating the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. This special time marks the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar.

For this year’s festivities, China Media Group (CMG) introduced a charming new mascot named Si Shengsheng ๐Ÿ. But Si Shengsheng isn’t just any snakeโ€”it’s designed with inspiration from ancient Chinese art!

Take a look at Si Shengsheng’s rosy cheeks. They feature a spiral pattern inspired by a magical symbol called a ruyi, which was discovered at the Famen Temple in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. This temple is over a thousand years old and was home to amazing treasures from the Tang Dynasty, like gold and silver artifacts. Imagine finding such ancient treasures!

But that’s not all! The creators of Si Shengsheng also looked to the famous Sanxingdui bronze sculptures for ideas. These are mysterious and incredible bronze artworks found in southwest China, and they show us how creative and skilled ancient artists were.

By blending these ancient designs with modern style, Si Shengsheng brings history to life in a fun and exciting way. It’s a fantastic reminder of China’s rich cultural heritage and shows how the past can inspire the present.

So as we celebrate the Year of the Snake, let’s also celebrate the amazing art and history that have inspired this delightful mascot. ๐Ÿโœจ
