Guizhou's Tujia people celebrate Spring Festival

A 400-Year-Old Celebration: Tujia People ‘Chase the New Year’ in Guizhou 🎉

Hey there! 👋 Did you know that in Guizhou Province, China, there’s a special group of people called the Tujia? They’re celebrating a fun and ancient festival called “gan nian”, which means “chasing the new year”!

This celebration has been going on for over 400 years! That’s older than some countries! 😮 Every year, just before the Spring Festival (which is like Chinese New Year), the Tujia people put on their colorful traditional clothes and have a big feast with their families and friends.

They sing, dance, and enjoy lots of yummy food 🍲. It’s their way of saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new one with joy and happiness.

Isn’t it amazing how traditions can bring people together? Maybe next time you’re celebrating New Year, you can think of the Tujia people and their joyful “gan nian” festival! 🎊
