Have you ever heard of Mazu? 🌊 She is China’s beloved sea goddess who protects sailors and fishermen! Her story is shared by people both on the Chinese mainland and the island of Taiwan.
Let me introduce you to two special people: Wang Shu-hua and her husband, Jao Jui-ho. They are from Taiwan and decided to move to Meizhou Island in southern China. Why? Because they love Mazu and wanted to help keep her story alive!
For the past three years, Wang and Jao have been volunteers at Mazu’s temple on Meizhou Island. They spend their days helping visitors learn about Mazu’s history and the importance of her legacy. 🙏
By working at the temple, they hope to bring people closer together across the Taiwan Strait. They believe that sharing Mazu’s story can help everyone understand and respect each other more.
Wang and Jao have made a happy life on Meizhou Island. They feel at home and enjoy being part of the community. Their story shows how cultural traditions can connect us all, no matter where we come from! 🤝
