Hey tennis fans! 🎾 Guess what happened at the Australian Open? China’s amazing tennis players, Zheng Saisai and Wang Xinyu, just pulled off a big win! They defeated the 11th-seeded team of Veronika Kudermetova from Russia and Ena Shibahara from Japan.
The match was super exciting! In the first set, Zheng and Wang were on fire 🔥. They won 6-1 in just 30 minutes. That’s super fast! They played really well and only lost four points when they were serving.
But in the second set, things got tougher. Kudermetova and Shibahara fought back and won the first three games. One of those games lasted 11 minutes and went to deuce five times (that’s when both teams have 40 points and need to win by two points)! 😮
But Zheng and Wang didn’t give up. They stayed calm and focused. They caught up to make it 3-3. Later, when their opponents had set points at 5-4 (meaning they could have won the set if they won that game), Zheng and Wang saved them! 🙌 They then broke their opponents’ serve to lead 6-5.
Finally, Zheng and Wang won the match with a score of 6-1, 7-5. They were so happy to make it to the round of 16! 🎉
Wang Xinyu said after the match, “We started really well, which was a surprise because in other matches, we didn’t start that smoothly. The second set was tough, but we didn’t panic. We stuck to our plan and played calmly.”
