Hey there! 🌊 Did you hear the exciting news? Huawei, a big tech company from the Chinese mainland, is teaming up with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to help protect ocean life on Kenya’s south coast!
They’ve started a super cool project called Tech4Nature! Over the next three years, they’ll be using awesome technology like underwater cameras and artificial intelligence (that’s AI for short) to watch over and protect amazing sea creatures like green turtles 🐢 and bottlenose dolphins 🐬.
The place they’re focusing on is called Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park and Reserve. It’s a really special area with beautiful coral reefs and lots of different fish and sea animals.
By using high-tech gadgets, they’ll be able to see what’s happening under the sea in real-time! That means they can spot if any boats are fishing illegally and help stop them to keep the sea life safe.
This project is also helping local people learn more about how important the ocean is and how we can all work together to protect it.
“Innovative thinking and smart solutions are already helping to mitigate some of the world’s most pressing environmental problems,” said Khadija Mohammed Ahmed from Huawei. Pretty cool, right?
So next time you think about the ocean, remember that people around the world are using technology to make a big difference! Maybe one day, you can too! 🚀
