China and Republic of Congo Strengthen Friendship with New Agreements

Hey there! 😊 Have you ever had a friend you like to visit every year? Well, China does something similar! For the past 35 years, China’s foreign ministers have started each new year by visiting Africa. This shows how much China values its friendship with the countries there.

This year, from January 5th to 11th, China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, visited four African countries, including the Republic of the Congo. That’s a country in Central Africa, not to be confused with its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Did you know that China and the Republic of the Congo have been friends for a long time? In fact, in 2024, they will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations! 🎉 That means they’ve been working together and helping each other for almost six decades.

Their friendship is growing stronger. In 2022, the trade between the two countries reached $6.57 billion! That’s a lot of goods and services being shared, and it was a big increase from the year before.

Even more exciting, they have signed agreements to work together on the Belt and Road Initiative. This is a big project where countries collaborate on building roads, railways, and ports to connect different parts of the world. It helps everyone trade more easily and grow their economies.

By working together, China and the Republic of the Congo are helping their people have better lives. It’s like when you and your friends team up on a project at school—you can achieve more together! 🤝
