Hey everyone! Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dig a tunnel right through a massive mountain? Well, guess what? China just did exactly that!
On Monday morning, in the snowy mountains of Xinjiang, workers completed the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel. This amazing tunnel is now the world’s longest expressway tunnel!
The Tianshan Mountains are huge and covered in snow almost all year round. Building a tunnel here was super challenging. The workers had to dig through hard rocks and deal with freezing temperatures. But they didn’t give up!
Why is this tunnel so important? Well, tunnels like this help cars and trucks travel faster and safer. Instead of going over dangerous mountain roads, vehicles can now go straight through the mountain!
This is a big achievement for China’s infrastructure development. Infrastructure (that’s a big word!) means things like roads, bridges, and tunnels that help people get around and transport goods.
