Have you heard the big news from Beijing? The capital city of China is planning to make its city even greener! By the year 2025, Beijing wants forests to cover 45% of the city. That’s almost half the city filled with trees! How cool is that? 🍃
What’s the Plan?
The city officials have a great idea to add more green spaces for everyone to enjoy. They’re going to:
- Add 200 hectares of new parks. That’s like adding hundreds of football fields full of trees and plants!
- Build another 1,000 kilometers of greenways. These are long paths surrounded by nature where people can walk, bike, and have fun.
Growing Greener Every Year
Since 2012, Beijing has been working hard to plant more trees. Back then, forests covered about 38.6% of the city. Now, they cover 44.9%! That’s a big jump. And the city has over 1,000 parks where kids and families can play.
