Hey there! Guess what happened this weekend? The Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. opened its doors to over 10,000 visitors for their annual Open Day! ποΈ
This year’s star was Gansu Province π, a super cool region in northwest China. It’s famous for its amazing role in Chinese history and the ancient Silk Road! π«
Exploring Gansu’s Wonders
Visitors got to dive into the “Digital Dunhuang” experience, a virtual tour of ancient Buddhist caves filled with incredible art and history! π¨π₯οΈ
There were also fun hands-on activities like trying out traditional Chinese medicine π©Ί, practicing calligraphy ποΈ, and checking out the latest tech innovations! π‘
A Message of Friendship
Ambassador Xie Feng gave a speech called “A Certain China in an Uncertain World“. He talked about how important it is for everyone to work together and be friends, especially when things are a bit shaky in the world. ππ€
He said, “Openness brings progress, while isolation leads to stagnation.” That’s a fancy way of saying that when we share and cooperate, everybody wins! π
Visitors from Near and Far
People from all over came to join the fun! There were officials from Maryland, representatives from the World Bank, and even folks from different embassies. π
