Hey there, young travelers! ✈️ Did you know that during China’s upcoming Labor Day holiday, millions of people will be flying all over the country and beyond? Let’s dive into the skies and see what’s happening!
From May 1 to May 5, China is celebrating a five-day holiday called Labor Day. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) says that about 10.75 million passengers are expected to fly during this time! That’s like if the entire population of Portugal decided to take to the skies!
Every day, around 2.15 million people will hop on planes. And on the busiest days, May 1 and 5, more than 2.3 million passengers will be flying! 🛫
Most people will be traveling between big city areas like:
- Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei
- Yangtze River Delta
- Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
- Chengdu-Chongqing region
Popular tourist spots like Xishuangbanna, Lijiang, and Lhasa (in the Xizang Autonomous Region) are also super busy! These places are famous for their beautiful scenery and unique cultures.
But it’s not just domestic flights! International travel is also taking off, with many people flying to places like Japan, the Republic of Korea, and countries in Southeast Asia.
To make sure everyone gets where they’re going, airlines have planned 88,000 flights during the holiday! That’s more flights than ever before during this time of year.
However, the weather forecast says it might be hot with chances of heavy rain and thunderstorms. So, the CAAC is working hard to keep everyone safe and make sure flights run smoothly.
So, if you’re thinking about traveling during the holiday, get excited! But also remember to stay safe and maybe pack an umbrella! ☂️
