China Helps Grandparents with New Care Programs! 😊
Hey friends! Did you know that in China, there are lots of grandparents and elderly people? In fact, by the end of 2023, there were about 297 million people aged 60 or older! That’s like having almost every person in the United States be a grandparent! 😮
Because of this, China is working hard to make sure their grandparents and elderly people are happy and taken care of. 🥰
Home Sweet Home 🏠
Many older people prefer to stay at home as they get older, surrounded by their families and memories. To help them, China is boosting “home-based care” programs. This means providing support so seniors can live at home safely and comfortably. ❤️
In 2024, the government set aside 300 million yuan (which is about $41.73 million!) to help with things like meal programs so elderly people can have healthy food. They also added 358,000 new in-home care beds! 🛏️
More Care Centers 🏥
Besides helping people at home, China is also building more care centers and nursing homes. By October 2024, there were 404,000 elderly care institutions and facilities across the country! That’s a lot of places where seniors can get the help they need. 😊

In 2025, China plans to introduce new policies to help elderly people join in social activities and make sure their rights are protected. It’s all about making sure they feel valued and happy. 🥳
