Table Tennis Stars Fan and Chen Withdraw Over New Rules
Hey there, table tennis fans! 🏓 Have you heard the latest news about two of the world’s best players, Fan Zhendong and Chen Meng from China?
Recently, Fan and Chen decided to withdraw from the world rankings. That means they won’t be listed among the top players for now. But why did they do that?
Well, the World Table Tennis organization, or WTT for short, has some rules for professional players. One of them says that if players miss certain tournaments, they might have to pay a fine, which is like a penalty. Both Fan and Chen found these fines difficult because of their situations.
Fan said he couldn’t follow the new rule about fines for not playing in events. Chen mentioned she’s been dealing with some physical challenges, making it hard to play in every tough tournament.
The WTT responded by saying they respect Fan and Chen a lot. They explained that the rules about fines aren’t new and help keep the competitions fair. They also said they hope Fan and Chen come back to play in the future!
It’s a big deal when top athletes make decisions like this. But sometimes, they have to choose what’s best for them. Let’s cheer them on and hope to see them back on the table soon! 🙌
