Have you ever dreamed of exploring an ancient city? 🌟 Meet Gulbakram Mumin, a young woman who lives that dream every day! She grew up right beside the ruins of Jiaohe, an amazing city that’s over 2,000 years old, in Turpan, northwest China.
Jiaohe (pronounced “JOW-huh”) was once a bustling place along the Silk Road, where traders swapped goods like silk and spices. Now, it’s a mysterious maze of ancient buildings and sandy streets, waiting to tell its stories.
Following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather, Gulbakram decided to become a guardian of this ancient city. She studied history and heritage protection at university and then returned home to help preserve Jiaohe for future generations. 🏰
Every day, she cares for the ruins, sharing the city’s secrets with visitors young and old. She loves teaching others about the importance of protecting our world’s treasures. “It’s like keeping a big, ancient puzzle safe,” she says. “We have to protect each piece so people can enjoy it forever!”
