Let’s meet some cool friends who are discovering Nanjing on the run. Meet Megersa from Ethiopia. He came to Nanjing to study and found out that the city loves running just like he does! In Ethiopia, many kids run to school because there aren’t many buses. That’s how they become such great runners! In Nanjing, Megersa joined the Cool Running Club at his university. He even ran in the Nanjing Marathon twice! But the best part? He made lots of new friends who love running too. They call themselves “running buddies”! Say hello to Tim, a pianist who was born in Nanjing but grew up in Canada. Tim thinks jogging is great for musicians because it helps them stay healthy and focused. He was a torchbearer at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in 2014! Tim believes that playing music and doing sports are similar—they both need practice, dedication, and can make you feel excited before a big performance or race. Jasmin is from Germany and studies in Nanjing. She loves sports and even volunteered at the Nanjing Marathon. But guess what else she does? Dragon boating! Dragon boating is a team sport where everyone paddles together in a long boat. Jasmin’s team won a silver medal in a big race! She learned that teamwork makes everything better. “Working together is more fun than going alone!” she says. Nanjing shows us that running and sports can bring people together from all over the world. Whether it’s jogging around the beautiful Xuanwu Lake or paddling in a dragon boat, there’s always a new adventure waiting. So, next time you think about exploring a new place, maybe put on some sneakers and see where your feet can take you! Who knows?
