Have you ever thought about how carpets are made? 🧶 In a small country called Georgia (not the U.S. state!), some kids are bringing back a special way to make carpets by hand!
A long time ago, people in Georgia made beautiful Borchalo carpets. These carpets were famous among experts because of their amazing patterns and colors. But then, factories started making carpets faster and cheaper, and the old way of weaving almost disappeared. 😢
But guess what? A man named Ryan Smith started a project called reWoven to help save this tradition! Now, more young people are learning how to weave Borchalo carpets by hand. They’re using looms, threads, and lots of creativity to keep this old craft alive. 🎨
Thanks to reWoven, weaving is becoming popular again. Kids are learning from older weavers, and they’re making carpets that tell stories and show off their culture. It’s like weaving pieces of history! 🧵
Isn’t it cool how young people can make such a big difference? Next time you see a carpet, think about all the work and love that might have gone into making it. Maybe you’ll even want to try weaving something yourself! 😉
