China renews yellow alert for Typhoon Danas

Watch Out! Typhoon Danas Brings Strong Winds and Rain to Southern China 🌬️🌧️

Hey everyone! Have you heard about Typhoon Danas? 🌪️ It’s a big storm that’s bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of southern China and the island of Taiwan!

What’s Happening?

As of early Sunday morning, Typhoon Danas was moving northeast, picking up speed at about 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. That’s like a fast bike ride! 🚴‍♂️ The storm is expected to get even stronger, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Where Is It Going?

From Sunday evening to Monday morning, Typhoon Danas is expected to cross the Taiwan Strait. This is a narrow sea area between the Chinese mainland and the island of Taiwan. The typhoon might brush past or even make landfall on the western coast of Taiwan! 🏝️

On Monday, the storm will move into the East China Sea and get closer to the coastal areas of northern Fujian to central and southern Zhejiang provinces. These are places along China’s eastern coastline. 🌊

What to Expect

Starting from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, strong winds are expected in many sea areas like the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, and the Bashi Channel. Coastal regions like Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Taiwan Island will also feel the strong winds. Hold onto your hats! 🎩

Heavy rainfalls are predicted in southeastern Zhejiang, northeastern Fujian, and across Taiwan. Some areas in Taiwan might get super heavy rain—up to 230 millimeters! That’s like having your bathtub overflow 230 times! 🛁

Did You Know?

China has a special warning system for typhoons. It’s color-coded with four levels:

  • Red 🔴 – Most severe
  • Orange 🟠 – Severe
  • Yellow 🟡 – Moderate (that’s the current level for Typhoon Danas!)
  • Blue 🔵 – Less severe

This helps people know how serious a storm is and how to prepare. Isn’t that smart? 🧠

Stay Safe!

Because of Typhoon Danas, sea areas near Taiwan, the South China Sea, and coastal waters off Fujian, Guangdong, and Zhejiang will have strong waves from Sunday noon to Monday noon. If you live nearby or know someone who does, make sure to stay safe and follow local advice! 🛟

Remember, storms like this can be dangerous, but by staying informed and prepared, we can all stay safe. Keep an eye on the weather reports, and don’t forget your raincoat if you’re heading outside! ☔
