Over 15,000 People Affected by Heavy Rains in Sri Lanka 🌧️

Hi friends! Did you know that in Sri Lanka, a small island country in the Indian Ocean, over 15,000 people have been affected by really heavy rains? ☔️ That’s a lot of people!

The rain has caused floods, which means water covers the land that is usually dry. It has also caused strong winds and trees to fall down. This is happening in different parts of the country, especially in places like Jaffna District in the Northern Province, where over 7,000 people need help.

The country’s Disaster Management Center is helping families stay safe. They warn people about the bad weather so everyone can prepare.

Weather experts say that heavy rain can happen because of something called a “low-pressure area” in the Bay of Bengal. This can make the weather worse and bring more rain.

Some places might get more than 100 millimeters of rain! That’s like having a big bucket of water poured over your head all at once! 💦

Did you know that Sri Lanka gets almost 30% of its yearly rain in October and November? That’s a lot of rain in just two months!

People in Sri Lanka are working hard to stay safe during these storms. They listen to weather warnings, stay away from flooded areas, and help each other out.

It’s important for all of us to learn about how weather can affect people’s lives. What do you do to stay safe during a big storm?
