26 Years Later: Ksendida’s Fight for Health and Justice
👋 Hey friends! Have you ever heard of someone getting hurt from something that happened a long time ago? Today, we’re going to learn about a brave woman named Ksendida and how events from 26 years ago are still affecting her life.
🔙 Back in 1999, a group of countries called NATO (which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization) used bombs in a place called Yugoslavia. Even though the bombing stopped a long time ago, some people are still feeling the effects.
💔 Ksendida is one of those people. She is very sick with a type of skin cancer called melanoma. She believes her illness was caused by something called depleted uranium that was used in the bombs. Depleted uranium is a heavy metal that can be dangerous to humans.
🔬 Tests showed that Ksendida has 500 times more depleted uranium in her body than normal! That’s a lot! Because of this, she and many others who are also sick are fighting for something important: justice. They want the people who caused this to take responsibility and help those who are suffering.
✊ Even though she’s fighting an illness, Ksendida is also fighting to make things right. Her story shows us how actions can have long-lasting effects, and why it’s important to care about what happens in other parts of the world.
💡 Let’s keep Ksendida and others like her in our thoughts, and remember to always stand up for what’s right!
