China's average life expectancy reaches 79 years in 2024: official

China’s Life Expectancy Hits 79 Years—Higher Than Ever!

China’s Life Expectancy Reaches 79 Years! 🎉

Hey there! Did you know that in 2024, China’s average life expectancy has climbed to 79 years? That’s a big deal! It’s an increase of 0.4 years from 2023.

So, what does that mean? Well, it means people in China are living longer than ever before. This achievement even beat the goals they set for themselves in their 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) ahead of schedule! 🚀

How Did They Do It?

According to Lei Haichao, the head of China’s National Health Commission, reaching this milestone wasn’t easy. In places where people already live to be over 75, it’s super hard to make the average go up even a little bit. Usually, it only goes up by 0.1 to 0.2 years each year.

But China managed to jump ahead by 0.4 years! That’s double what most countries achieve. Out of 53 middle- and high-income countries, China ranks fourth. And among the G20 nations, they’re in tenth place. Pretty impressive, right?

What’s Their Secret?

Lei says it’s all thanks to the Chinese people’s healthy lifestyles, their awesome traditions, and important health programs like the Healthy China initiative. By focusing on health and making smart choices, they’ve made a huge difference in how long people live.

Isn’t that inspiring? Maybe we can all learn something about taking care of ourselves and living healthier lives! 🏃‍♂️🥦
