Rescuers Hurry to Help After Huge Landslide in Southwest China 🌏

On Saturday morning, around 11:50 a.m. Beijing Time, a big landslide happened in a village called Jinping in Junlian County, Yibin City, which is in Sichuan Province in southwest China.

A landslide is when rocks and dirt slide down a hill or mountain, often because of heavy rain. In this case, lots of rain made the ground unstable, causing a massive slide that turned into a debris flow stretching about 1.2 kilometers! That’s like 12 football fields long! 🏈

So far, one person has sadly passed away, two people are hurt, and 28 people are still missing. Rescue teams are working very hard to find them. More than 200 people who lived nearby have been safely moved to a temporary shelter at a school.

To help the people affected, the authorities have brought in 100 tents, 400 beds, and over 1,100 quilts to make sure everyone has a place to sleep and stay warm. They’ve also set up an emergency dining spot so people can eat.

Nearly 950 people are helping with the rescue! This includes firefighters, police officers, doctors, and even experts in electricity and communication. They are using special equipment like excavators (big digging machines), fire engines, and ambulances to help with the search and rescue.

The government has provided a lot of money to help fix roads, bridges, and other important things that were damaged. They are also making sure that the rescue teams have everything they need to keep everyone safe.

Everyone is hoping for the best and sending good thoughts to the people affected by this disaster. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the rescue teams can find the missing people soon! πŸ™
