What’s so special about this oil field?
Well, this oil field has a lot of oil—it’s called a “billion-tonne” oil field! That means there’s enough oil to fill a billion tonnes. That’s really, really heavy—imagine lifting a billion elephants! 🐘🐘🐘 (But of course, we can’t lift elephants!)
Where is the Bozhong 26-6 Oilfield?
It’s located in the northern Bohai Sea, which is a part of the ocean near the Chinese mainland. The water there is about 20 meters deep—that’s like the height of a six-story building! 🌊
How much oil will it produce?
By 2025, they expect it to produce about 22,300 barrels of oil every day! That’s a lot of oil. This oil helps make gasoline for cars, energy for homes, and lots of other important things we use every day.
How did they build it?
They built special platforms in the sea to get the oil out from deep under the ocean floor. One of the platforms is called a “central processing platform,” and there’s also an “unmanned wellhead platform,” which works without people having to be there all the time! 🤖
They had to drill wells deep into the ground under the sea. The rocks there are called “metamorphic rocks,” which means they were changed by heat and pressure over a long time.
Why is this important?
Finding and producing oil helps make sure we have enough energy. But it’s also important to think about how using oil affects our planet. Maybe one day, we will find better ways to get energy that are cleaner and better for the Earth! 🌍
