Have you ever dreamed of spending your days exploring nature and helping animals? That’s exactly what Li Dongming does! For over ten years, Li has been a wildlife photographer and dedicated birdwatcher in the Tiaozini Wetland in east China’s Jiangsu Province.
Who is Li Dongming?
Li is a passionate nature lover who cares deeply about birds, especially migratory ones. Migratory birds are birds that travel long distances every year to find the best places to live and feed. They fly from one part of the world to another with the changing seasons!
Tracking the Spoon-Billed Sandpipers 🐤
One of Li’s favorite birds is the spoon-billed sandpiper. It’s a tiny bird with a unique spoon-shaped beak! Sadly, these birds are endangered, which means there aren’t many left in the world. Li spends countless hours tracking them, taking pictures, and making sure they are safe during their stopovers at the wetland.
A Day in Li’s Life
Imagine spending 10 hours a day walking through muddy tidal flats! It’s tough work, but Li doesn’t mind. He knows that his efforts help protect these amazing birds. He spends over 300 days a year out in the wetland, rain or shine. That’s a lot of dedication!
