Strong Earthquake Shakes Kyushu, Japan! 🌏
A big earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 has struck the Kyushu region in southwestern Japan on Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). That’s a pretty strong quake!
The earthquake hit Miyazaki Prefecture, and it was felt as a lower 5 on Japan’s seismic scale of 0 to 7. In Japan, this scale measures how much people and buildings feel the shaking. A lower 5 means it was enough to make dishes and books fall off shelves!
Because of the earthquake, the JMA has issued a tsunami advisory for Miyazaki and Kochi prefectures. A tsunami advisory means that there could be high waves along the coast, so people near the sea need to be careful and stay safe.
We hope everyone stays safe, and our thoughts are with the people in Japan! ❤️
