What Happened?
On January 7, a strong earthquake shook a place called Dingri County in Xizang. It was a magnitude 6.8 earthquake, which means the ground shook a lot! Many people were affected, and some homes were damaged.
Where is Xizang?
Xizang is a region in southwest China. It’s home to the majestic Himalaya Mountains, including Mount Qomolangma (also known as Mount Everest), the tallest mountain in the world! 🏔️ The area is very high up—about 4,500 meters above sea level. That’s like stacking over 14 Eiffel Towers on top of each other!
Challenges for Helpers
