Snow Blankets the US: A Polar Vortex Brings Record Snowfall

Brrr! It’s freezing out there! ❄️

On Monday, January 6th, a huge snowstorm swept across much of the United States. This wasn’t just any snowfall—it was caused by something called a polar vortex.

A polar vortex is a big area of cold air high up in the atmosphere over the Earth’s poles. Sometimes, this cold air moves down into other parts of the world. When it does, it can bring very cold temperatures and lots of snow.

The eastern and southern parts of the U.S. were covered in snow. Schools closed, and many people stayed indoors to keep warm. Even places that don’t usually get snow saw white blankets covering the ground! ⛄

Just the day before, similar snowy weather hit northern Europe and parts of Asia. It seems the cold wanted to visit lots of places!

Remember to bundle up if it’s cold where you are, and enjoy the snowy fun if you can! But stay safe and warm! 😊
